Shar Bo Fan (Claypot Rice) - IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATION

Am family and dear darling went to Geylang East for dinner. We had Claypot Rice for dinner. I wanted to go to Geylang Lorong 17 (He Ping Restaurant) for the claypot rice, but my parents suggested that we should try the one at Geylang East. This coffee shop is near Shop N Save, if you know where i meant. Every table was eating their claypot rice.

We also ordered 8 pieces of chicken wings $8.80, my favourite!

Here's comes the star! Big Claypot Rice! $16 for four person portion.

Mama was taking the 'liao' out (includes chicken, chinese sausages, kiam neng, green vege and kiam her), so that she can stir the rice. The best part of eating claypot rice is u scoop up the rice from the very bottom of the claypot, with the very char da rice. So hard and crispy that it will stick to your teeth. Personally, am prefer the rice to be more darker. Overall, the rice was ok. Am still prefer the one at Geylang.

We have also ordered the 'lian ou tang' aka lotus soup $4 to go with the rice. The soup was quite tasty though. We were quite full after the dinner.

ps: im at home studying for my exams, while dear darling and friends are meeting for a movie later. *humph*

Miss Clarity or Miss Blur?

Am is such a Miss Blur! I have forgotten to take pictures of my food expedition yesterday. As usual, me and dear darling just cheong-ed for the food once it was served to us! Hahaha..what's new rite! Anyway, we went to Miss Clarity at Katong branch together with Wei De aka Gentle Giant (hahahahhahahaha), thinking it will not be as crowded as the Main Branch at Purvis Street! We were so wrong. When we arrived about 8.20pm, the restaurant was full. So we took the seats outside first (the staff told us outside was Al-Fresco sitting, but how come i do not have the hweeling huh? hmmmz?...nvm), but shortly, we moved back to the seats inside. The restaurant here is much bigger than Purvis, plus we no need to queue for the food.

We've ordered 1 Dozen of Fresh Escargots ($15) for appetiser. Dear darling and Gentle Giant ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu ($8.80) each, and am took my all time favourite Garlic Crusted Dory ($8.80). Dear darling and am also ordered their famous desert, Mud Ooze ($5). Here is their webbie http://missclaritycafe.com/index.php?page=home, maybe you guys can take a look first. ps: Their prices are not updated on their webbie yet.

Their Chicken Cordon Bleu and Escargots are not as nice as the one at Purvis street, but surprisingly, their Garlic Crusted Dory are much crispier and tastier here.

The food here are not as fantastic as the one at Purvis, probably all their main chefs are at Purvis. Oh yeah, if you guys are as cheapo mama as ours, maybe you can just take their ice water instead and save on the drinks. Because they give a TUB of ice water to every table, plus refill! Muahahhahahaha!! Total Damage = $48+ (no GST and service charge)

After dinner, we proceed to Vie Bar at Siglap to celebrate Gary's 25th Birthday. Darren and Liping bought a cake from Cheesecake Cafe. Oreo Cheesecake! Personally am is not a big fan of Oreo, so am just took a small bite of the cake and give the rest of the cake to dear darling. Fortunately, am took some pics at the celebration but the pictures are in dear darling's phone, shall update them later.

Speaking of which, why do am call Wei De, Gentle Giant? Because he's a tall, muscular, friendly, nice, helpful, loyal, courteous guy with no temper at all! And no Girlfriend as well!! All of us are trying to help him find a gf! SO! If ANYONE (i say ANYONE) out there has a SINGLE GIRL-FRIEND OUT THERE, Please! Leave me a Message! Rewards will be given! (hmmz, does it sounds like the mocca's advertisement looking for a maltese advertisement?).

On a Note: The lady boss from Miss Clarity recognised dear darling was not his first time there, she said she had seen dear darling for the 2nd or 3rd time already. But am only been there twice including yesterday, plus i have never seen the lady boss before. SO?! who did dear darling went with for the 2nd or 3rd time?? Ahem Ahem, dear darling u better come clean with me ah! Muahhahahahaha.

Katong or Serangoon Gardens?

As usual dear darling and me would ponder what to have for dinner, and the normal procedure would, i ask dear darling to think what to eat, and he would always says 'No Point lah, cuz everytime what i've said you would OVERWRITE'. Hahahhaa....but this not true wat, i do not overwrite his decision, just that i will give lots and lots and lots of comments and excuses to not eat what he have suggested. So finally, being the sensitive and considerate gf, i gave in to dear darling's suggestion. But he had actually suggested that we could try Aston at Serangoon Gardens, but i still prefer Aston at Katong. Though there was a small 'debate', but eventually we have decided to eat at Katong. Llalalallalalaalalal i won again!

We reached there around 8.30pm, and what's Aston without having a queue rite? But surprisingly, our queue moved quite fast. We have decided what to eat while queuing up. Dear darling gonna order his usual main course, Grill Fish with Herb with side dishes Baked Potato and Coleslaw ($6.50), and am gonna order Chicken and Sausage Combo with side dishes French Fries and Baked Potato. Normally i will have their steak, but since so late liao, i've decided to stick with chicken, and two cream of mushroom soup for the both of us.

While taking the order, i was informed that they no more served Chicken and Sausage Combo, so i have decided to change to Double Up Chicken($9.90), i get to choose two different type of chicken from the menu. Thinking that their portion will be quite small, being the usual greedy me, i have chosen Black Pepper Chicken and Lemon Grill Chicken.

Our Cream of Mushroom Soup ($2.50)

Dear Darling's Grill Fish with Herb

And lastly, my Double Up Chicken

My portion was quite big, and at that moment i already foresee i will not be able to finish it. But sad to say the chicken was so-so only, not really that happening. But i prefer the Lemon Grill Chicken over the Black Pepper Chicken. Dear darling fish was not too bad. The soup we drank apparently tasted abit bland for today. But overall, it was a cheap and full dinner. Total damage = $25.80 (no service charge)

Happy Birthday Mama!

Mama birthday falls on 21th Apr, but we have decided to celebrate a day earlier, and am is the one to decide where to eat and celebrate. Mama had also complained that it's been ages since she ate Tonkichi (hint* hint*), so i assumed she would want to eat Tonkichi on her birthday. I gave dear darling the task to make a reservation at Scotts Istean on sunday for 5 people, mama, papa, me, dear darling and bro (bro gf gotta work on sunday). Ok, let's not keep you guys waiting.

These roasted sesame seeds are to be grinded to mix with some kind of sauce to go with the dishes. Our first appetiser and also dad's favourite, Soft Shell Crab. Not really happening though. 2nd appetiser was Tofu Katsu, deep-fried tofu, with many ingredients stuffed inside, i believed was carrot, chestnut and and and...not sure whats inside also. Not bad though. It was served with 6 pieces, but not 3 pieces hahaha. We have almost finished eating the tofu, before we realised that am havent took any picture yet, my mama had to even put back her 1 piece of tofu back to the plate. Heh Heh...in fact i was the one who took the first piece of tofu first.

Mama and am had the same set, deep-fried pork loin and ebi $24. We have upgraded our miso soups to the Tonjiru soup for $4. There are meat, tofu, onions, some-jelly like thingy.

Dear darling had the curry fried-dory fish $21, and Papa had the curry fried-pork loin $21.

And lastly, bro had the chef's special which includes fried pork fillet, unagi, ebi, tonjiru and chawamushi. $23.90
Bro and his gf had actually bought a cake for mama, but we were too full! to eat. Therefore we have decided to go home and eat the cake instead. Ok the cake was from my favourite pastry shop at Takashimaya basement, Rive Gauche. Go for their Strawberry Shortcake! Not forgetting our beloved baby too, he was just aiming for the cake! Total Damage = $181+ (excluding the cake).

Char Hei Mee

As promised, here are the pics of the famous Fried Hokkien Mee from Beach Road Golden Mile Hawker Center aka Army Market. Can you see the tiny prawns lying inside the noodles?

2 little prawns nia and i think i ate two slices of sotong only, quite pathetic for a $3 packet of hei mee hor? But i still like this stall the best! I like prawn noodles which are dry dry rather than dampy dampy, plus they used 'you mee fen' with yellow noodles instead of 'chu mee fen'. Their chilli paste are spicy added with chilli padi, be careful of the seeds from the chilli padi!

Don't be fooled by the pics, the noodles are actually very small in portion, just nice for me but i think people with big appetites are not enough. They are located at level 1, and the stall name is Hainanese Fried Hokkien Mee. Yes, they are hainanese just like me and dear darling. Oh yeah, they are CLOSED on Every Wednesday!

Like a virgin

Ok! After much hesitation and delibration, i have finally started a blog for myself! Since most of my friends are well-aware that i LOVE x 1000000000000 to eat which also constitutes to my figure now, thus this blog shall mainly be concentrating on my expendition and exploring of food.Ayiah, seriously i don't know what to write liao. I destest writing since primary school and i really have no idea why am i starting a blog now! Extra rite?

I'm supposed to be studying for my organisational theory paper now lor, but im super duper hungry and at the same time waiting for my late dinner. Cannot concentrate lah! Have asked my parents to tau pau FRIED HOKKIEN MEE from Beach Road Golden Mile Hawker Center. The stall owners are old neighbours of my mama, hopefully they will give more of that fatty meat and chilli! muahahhahahaha!! Yippie!! My parents are back, they are opening the door as im writing now. Ok ciao! Shall update you with the pics and comments later!
