Seng Kee Black Herbal Chicken Soup

Sunday dinner was with DD's mama and younger sister. We went to eat DD's mama favourite Pig Kidney's Mee Sua, is also one of am's favourite. But i will always request not to have the pig kidney's and replace it with more lean pork meat. This stall is always crowded with people during dinner dinner, so do get there earlier if you want to have seats. The stall is open till 4am everyday!

We ordered 4 Mee Sua, Chicken Floss with Beancurd, Hei-Chou and Fried Prawn Omelette.

Mee Sua, they are famous for their herbal soup base with mee sua. Nice!!! One mee sua cost only $3.50. But if you have it at their other stall at Bedok North Blk 511 Hawker, one mee sua cost only $3.

Beancurd with Chicken Floss. It a must have dish!!! The beancurd are fried till soft and tender and goes well with the chicken floss, esp with their special sauce too.

Their famous Hei-Chou. I love to eat the archar at the side. The Hei-Chou are fried till golden brown and very crispy outside. Remember always to dip the hei-chou with the sweet sauce.

Yum Yum Thai and Peaberry & Pretzel

Sorry all, am was a lil bit late for these post, cuz am was very busy with am shopping online http://www.amfeelsgood.blogspot.com/ (hahahah a lil advertising again) and school work. Ok here are the food!!! DD came and pick me up from school on last Saturday evening and we decided to makan at sunset way, since there's lots of recommendation of good restaurants in Sunset Way.

DD had been craving for Thai Food ever since we came back from Bangkok, and he suggested we try the thai restaurant YUM YUM THAI at Sunset Way. So as a thoughtful and considerate gf, i follow his suit. For your infor, we had thai food for 2 consecutive Saturdays muahahahahahhahaha. DD ordered his usual Pad Thai ($8), am ordered Thai Fried Rice ($8) and we both shared a TOM YUM GONG ($8), DD also ordered Red Ruby ($3.50) for his dessert.

The not so nice to drink, Tom Yum Gong. The Soup was kindda blend and there isn't much thing in there either. Except the fact, there was lotsa of prawns inside it and maybe 2-3 mushrooms in it. Hahaahahaha. More like prawn soup to me.

DD's Pad Thai. Am guessed all Pad Thai taste the same rite? Cuz am couldn't differentiate what is nice or not nice Pad Thai. Hhahahahah. This was not bad, tasted almost the same as Thai Express.

Am Thai Fried Rice. Haiz disappointed. The fried rice tasted just like the fried rice am bought at zi-char stall. Hahahahah. I was hoping that the rice might taste something with abit of thai flavour, hmmz such as spicy or with lemon grass scent or something like that. Hahaha should have ordered Pineapple Rice, at least i have pineapple for the vitamins muahahah ok am talking crap here. It tasted just like any other fried rice but the portion was quite big.

Am probably thinks this restaurant is good for their Ala-carte dishes, because am saw many people ordered Ala-carte to go with their white rice. So probably, DD and am made a wrong choice? Will give it a try again.

DD's Red Ruby.

Red Chestnuts.

Next up was dessert at Peaberry & Pretzel. Am heard some much bout P & P and decided to give it a try and they have also appeared on a few television programmes before. Check out their webbie, http://www.peaberryandpretzel.com.sg/index.html. They served meals too.

DD ordered PP Signature Tiramisu ($6.05) and am ordered Dessert Platter for 1 ($15.40).

Am wasn't interested in taking DD's half-face half body pic, or rather am was taking the pic of the glass shelf. They displayed their tiramisu and cakes on the glass shelf, the decor of the restaurant was a lil old school added a lil bit of modern decor in it which am like

DD's Tiramisu. Nice!!! 4 Thumbs up!!! The tiramisu literally just melts in your mouth.

Am's Dessert Platter for 1. Wah!!! Am just like a lil gal when am saw the desserts!! Muahahahahha. All the chef's specialities. DD also couldn't resists the temptation and shared the dessert with me.

The one on the top right was mud ooze, tasted exactly the same like the one we had at Miss Clarity. The rest of the dessert has a lil bit of alcohol in it, which brings out the flavour of the dessert. We finished everything that was on the plate except the carrot cake in the middle. Cuz DD and am are not a big fan of ANG MO CARROT CAKE. hahahaaahahaha.

The service at PP was excellent. They had one service crew at each station to attend to your needs. Hhahahaha and they kept re-filling our iced-water.

Did am also mentioned that all the restaurants in Sunset Way has an AL-fresco dining outside? A nice environment to have your dinner and dessert!!! But beware of BIG MOSQUITO.

Thai Express & MOF

Dear Darling couldn't get enough of thai food, in fact we were both quite sick after we came back from BKK, too much sinful thai food hahahahhaa. So Saturday dinner was at Thai Express at Marina Square. GG also joined us for dinner. DD wanted to eat Phai Thai so badly that he ordered Beef Phai Thai ($10.90), am ordered Prawn Omelette with Rice ($9.90) and GG had Curry with Soft-shell crab ($10.90). We have also ordered a Mini Steamboat ($13.90), Prawn Toast ($6.90) and Lemon Drumlette ($6.90).

Our Mini Steamboat, which includes chicken, fish, tang-hoon, squids, mushrooms and prawns. Not forgetting the tom yum soup. Quite worth it. You can add in more chilli padi if you want it to be even spicier. Nice.

DD and am favourite prawn toast. DD loves their sweet sauce.

Lemon Drumlettes. New dishes added to the menu. Not too bad.

DD's Beef Phai Thai.

GG's Curry Soft-shell crabs with rice.

Am Prawn Omelette with Rice.

After dinner, we met up with Gary and Valerie and we all proceeded to MOF for desserts. First time trying. Am ordered Macho Imo ($6.50), Val ordered Mango Imo ($6.50), Gary and DD ordered Macha Zen ($7.50) and GG ordered Shira Kurian ($7).

Gary and DD's Macha Zen, green-tea ice-cream soaked in very sweet red beans and 5 small mua-chee.

GG's Shira Kurian, vanilla ice-cream with peaches, red beans and 3 mua-chee.

Am's Macha Imo, vanilla ice-cream dipped in green-tea sauce with 2 deep-fried sweet potatoes. Val's Mango Imo, vanilla ice-cream dipped in mango sauce with 2 deep-fried sweet potatoes.

Overall, we had a great time tasting one another desserts. Not too bad.

Bangkok Getaway

Dear darling and am went for a 6D5N Bangkok Getaway on 26th June - 1 Jul 2008. It was a tiring, exhausting, enjoyable and fruitful trip! Hhahaha. YT came along too. It will be a very long post, so get ready your chips and drinks and enjoy!

DD and am in Changi Airport Transits Area.

Initially we had booked Baiyoke Boutique Hotel for this trip, but upon reaching at the Check-In Counter at 8pm without dinner, the check-in counter junior staff told us that the bathrooms in our rooms were leaking, and they will be transferring us to the nearest Baiyoke Suite Hotel instead, which is a 5mins walk away from Baiyoke Boutique. The moment i heard this 'problem', i was furious!! Because am had heard this same excuse used by Boutique in some of the forums. I tried not to lose my temper yet, and told them that i will not buy their excuse and i demanded to stay in this hotel!

Well, i guessed the junior staff saw the 'change' in my face, and quickly asked a senior staff to explain to me instead. Hhahaha but to no avail, instead i DEMANDED to see the bathrooms in our rooms. Amazingly, they brought us to a level where the whole level of rooms were renovating!!! Ridiculous! Well this time round, they really 'switched on' my mean button! I scolded both at the junior and senior staff for giving us stupid excuses and said this is the worst hotel ever! And i think i said the 'F' word a few times. Muahahahaha. Awhile later, the senior manager came out and explain the whole situation again! Actually am knows that no matter how angry, pissed or scolding them, we will still will not have the rooms. But at least, i have vented my anger on them!!!! They deserved my scoldings! Lastly, i asked them whether do i have any compensation, their answer to me' Sorry maaaadam, no compensation.' i LL -_-'"

Look how deceiving Baiyoke Boutique Hotel, nice decor and nice lobby.

One of the reason why am refused to move to Baiyoke Suite because am and friends had a bad encounter over there too in 2006. The suite were too old and creepy. But i was quite dumb-founded when i saw the suite this time round. Well, let the pictures do the talking.

Baiyoke Suite's Hall back in nov 2006. Hahaha it was very messy because we were too scared to sleep in the room, so we all cramped into this tiny hall.

Baiyoke Suite's Hall now.

Baiyoke Suite's room in nov 2006. With all our loots! Hahaha!

Baiyoke Suite's room now. See the vast difference??

After all the big hoo-haas, we went to Suan Lum Night Bazaar for dinner. Shop for awhile too, but the price there were so much steeper. And some don't even entertain bargaining.

Tom Yum soup with seafood. Yummy, not spicy though.

Chicken with Basil Leaves. Simple but yet nice, especially the sauce.

Mixed-Vegetables.

The killer Deep-Fried Prawns, which caused DD to have sore-throat for the next 6 days. Hhahaha. But it was very good!! Very crispy and goes well with their sweet and sour sauce.
Overall, the dinner cost about 600+ baht.

2nd Day - Frida. We went for the half-day tour. We get to visit a temple, the mini floating-market, a gem factory, honey making factory and lastly Erwin Shrine. We had McDonald's for lunch. I missed their Samurai Pork Burger so much! I bet you can't find any Samurai Pork Burger in any of our McDonald's outlet in Singapore. Hhahahahaha.

Super-duper juicy pork burger. Is nice!!! Please remember to grab one if you are in bkk.

We went to MBK for dinner, ate in a Japanese Ramen Restaurant. 3 of us ordered the same ramen, Tom Yum Ramen and shared a plate of Gyoza.

Simple Tom Yum Ramen. Tasted more like the instant noodles i cook back home. haha. The dinner cost bout 300+ baht.

After dinner, we went to Health Land Spa for massage. The location is quite secluded, but it is a well-known massage place in bkk. They are famous for their excellent services and affordable prices. Do visit http://www.healthlandspa.com/. We went there for two days for Aromatherapy Body Massage and Foot Massage.

Day 3 - Saturday. Chatuchak Weekend Market. Shop Shop Shop Sweat Sweat Sweat. We had lunch at this very crowded and cramped stall. They served Fried Chicken with Sticky Rice.
It was delicious, but the sticky rice was too full. On a note, the stall was also very dirty. Hahahaha.

In the evening, we met up with DD cousin. He brought us to Chinatown Nan Xing for their famous Shark Fins and Bird's nest.

Shark Fins in a claypot. Nice lor! 300 baht a bowl. In fact, am was quite full after finishing up the shark fins.

Sambal Kangkong. Didn't got the chance to taste it, because am was busy eating other dishes. Ha!

Crabmeat Fried Rice. Simply Delicious! Very yummy and tasty, but a bit oily. Am ate two bowls! Hahahaha

Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs. The taste is somehow quite similar to the one who have in Singapore.

Steam Prawns with Tang-Hoon. Wooo...The Tang-Hoon were superb! They are springy and tasty. Didn't fancy the prawns though.

Bird's Nest with Ginko Nuts for Dessert. Sweet and delicious bird's nest to end our sumptuous dinner. Am think the whole meal cost about 3000+ baht, courtesy of DD's cousin.

Day 4 - Sunday. Shopping at Chatuchak Weekend Market again. But we were too exhausted to continue again after noon time. So we headed back to have my favourite Wanton Mee. It's located opposite Grand Diamond Hotel. The stall is beside a small road and look out for the chef with the shades put on everyday.

The best way to eat the Wanton Mee is to add in the fish sauce, sugar and chili flakes, it makes the mee even tastier. The noodles are very springy, abit different from what we have in Singapore. One bowl of wanton mee cost only 30 baht.

Wanton Soup.

In the evening, we met up with cousin again. He brought us to The Good View Restaurant and Bar for authentic thai food. The restaurant is beside a river, a nice environment to have your dinner, and there's a live band inside the restaurant too.

1st dish, ok i have no idea what is it called. So let's me just name it as Spicy Appetising Prawns. Because these prawns was indeed spicy and appetising, it kind of opens up your taste bud. hahahaha.

Their Otah fish, quite similar to Singapore.

A very delicious vegetables which am have no idea what is it called again. I loveeeeeeee the sauce that goes with the vegetables. Am practically finished the whole plate of it.

Everyone loveesssss this pandan chicken. We never tasted such chicken in Singapore before, am thinks that they added some special kind of spices to enhance the taste in the chickens. Thumbs up!!

Tom Yum Gong. It was the best Tom Yum Soup we had throughout the whole trip. It was very spicy. DD was sweating unknowingly while drinking the soup. Hhahahaha.

BBQ Sweet and Sour Fish. Am had no idea how much this dinner cost, because it was courtesy from cousin again! hahahahaha

After dinner, we went to The Dome at The State Tower. Am so wanted to go The Dome for this trip, and there we are, at the 64th Level High overlooking Bangkok.

The night view in Bangkok.

Our Hosts for the 2 nights.

Day 5 - Monday. Was randomly shopping around area of MBK. We decided to have an extravagant dinner since it was our last night. We went to Fuji Japanese Restaurant in Siam Paragon to have our dinner.

DD and am Soft-shell crabs maki.

Am Salmon Sashimi.

YT's Gyoza.

Check out our Bento. The bento comes with every little thing that you can find in their menu. It was well worth the $$ if you can really eat. Frankly speaking, the bento wasn't that fantastic. Hahahaha. YT and am didn't managed to finish all.

DD's Fried Salmon with Tartar Sauce.

Our last appetiser, Deep Fried Potato Salad

The dinner cost us about 1500+ baht. So worth it right?! But am would only rate 6/10, because their bento were not nice as nice as the appetisers. So the dinner marks the end of our 6D5N trip.

PS: Bangkok was very safe and peaceful throughout our whole trip, though there were reports on riots in Bangkok before and during our trip. Everyone else was minding their own business in fact.
