Swedish Meets Italian

A quick updates on what i ate during the weekends. Saturday late dinner at Ikea Tampines. We reached there around 9pm, and there wasn't any varieties to chose from, therefore dear darling chose the Chicken Thigh ($7.20, it comes with potatoes) and am chose the Poached Salmon ($6.50, it comes with broccoli's and potatoes). And not forgetting Swedish meatballs with boiled potatoes and the sweet jam ($6.80). We didn't ordered the chicken wings because we had KFC for lunch earlier on . Ahahaha i know, weekends are for sinful dining.

Dear darling's Chicken Thigh. The thigh is tender and juicy.

Am Poached Salmon, i like their broccolis. They always cook their broccolis soft and sweet. The salmon's portion are just nice for me. Salmon are juicy accompanied with their yummy sauce.

Our Swedish meatballs. We ordered 10 Swedish meatballs. DD happily ate 7 meatballs 'unintentionally', and am was left with 3 meatballs.

Total Damage = $22.40

Sunday evening. DD and am met up with bro for dinner after his work. As usual, we couldn't decided on where to eat. Am suggested we go eat Ayam Penyet (Flattened Chicken) opposite Beach Road Shaw Center. We've parked our car at Shaw center and before crossing to AyamPenyet house, we decided to check out whether Creation opens on Sunday. To our surprise, it was OPEN! Cuz it used to close on every Sundays. Hahahaha so we switched to having dinner at Creation.

Bro and am had Carbonara Spaghetti and DD had Chicken Alfredo. Each pasta comes with a soup of the day, a dessert and a drink. For the dessert, we can get to chose Apple Crumble or Chocolate Brownies. The 3 of us chose Brownies.

Potato Soup with a half slice of garlic bread. Yummy soup.

Am and Bro Carbonara Spaghetti. I couldn't find any place that sells Carbornara as good as Creation. The sauce was just nice, not too creamy and not too dry. There's ham, sausages and mushroom in it. Very filling.

DD's Chicken Alfredo. Although it is also cream sauce base, it is somewhat abit different from Carbornara. Quite good also.

Lastly, chocolate brownies puts a sweet end to our meal. The brownies are superb. It's not too sweet and it was baked just nice that it doesn't breaks easily and at the same time it was soft and chewy.

Total Damage = $45.60 (no GST & Service Charge)

To My God-Child

Hey Lili Mama, this blog is dedicated to you and my god-child whom both of you are far far away in the USA. Be prepared to drool while reading my blog am knows that you are missing it badly. Am and dear darling met up with my parents for dinner. Mama suggested eating Xing Hua Noodles in Race Course Road, the one near Little India Mrt Station. We have ordered 2 plates of Mee Sua (Mian Xian $5 per plate) and 1 plate of Mee Fen ($3.50), 2 pieces of Deep-fried Batang Fish (Spanish mackerel $2 per piece), 1 Prawn Omelette($8) and 1 Tau Kee with Kailan (Beancurd Skin with Kailan $8).

Perumal Road

The Mee Sua are my favourites as compared to their Bee Hoon or Cao Mian or Lor Mee. Ingredients such as peanuts, lala (clams), prawns and their cripsy seaweeds are added together with the mee sua to brings out the wonderful taste of xing hua noodles. Their Batang fishes are also one of their famous dish. The fishes are deep-fried till it is so crispy as though you are eating keropok, and it is not oily at all.

The prawn omelette. People would usually order the omelette with oysters, but am family prefer it with prawns, and the eggs are added with a little bit of wine to bring out the taste in it.

Lastly, Tau Kee with Kailan, is one of their must have dish also. Their Tau Kee are sweet and juicy that are soaked in the sauce together with the kailan. Yummy!

Total Damage = $33.50
Location: 276 Race Course Road, Tel: 6392-5730. 11am-9.30pm, and closed on first Wednesday of the month.

Monday Blue-Not

It was breakfast with family at Killiney Kopitiam at Jalan Berseh. Beside ordering 8 slices of Butter Kaya Bread, 6 eggs and 2 French Toast, we have also ordered 2 Pohpiah, 1 Mee-siam and 1 Fried Carrot Cake, 2 Teh, 1 Ice-Lemon Tea and 1 Lime Juice. Muahahhahahaha. I think am family are quite a big eater.

French Toast. Not nice, i can't really taste the egg.

Our 8-slices of Butter Kaya Bread.

6 half-boiled eggs.

Pohpias, Mee-siam and Black Carrot Cake. All not nice. In fact, they sucks! The meesiam sauce was not spicy and it was too blend! The carrot cake was too chunky, cuz i only like to eat carrot cake when it was nicely mashed up. Some of the 'kueh' was not covered with the black sauce.

I guessed this outlet at Jalan Berseh really serves horrible food. Unlike those outlets at Siglap or the very first outlet at Killiney Road beside Singtel Comcenter. I still remembered when we were younger, my parents would bring us there to eat almost every Sunday. The 'waiters and waitress' were all old Hainanese grannies and grandpas.

Total Damage = $24.70.

Next up was Durian Puffs from Goodwood Park Hotel. Courtesy from Bro.

The puffs are so delicious!!! You have to keep them in the freezer and only take them out to thaw it for awhile before you eat it. The durain paste is yummy. It's not too sweet and literally just melt in your mouth like ice-cream.

Hot Hot Sundae

Went down Chinatown to pay up the remaining $ for our trip. Then met up with DD after his Basic Exercise Course in People's Park. We walked all the way up to a chinese restaurant, Lee Tong Kee Ipoh Sar Hor Fun near the Maxwell Hawker Center. DD ordered their famous LTK Dry Hor Fun ($4) and am ordered Fried Prawn Wanton Dry Hor Fun ($6). We have also ordered Dumpling Soup ($6) and their signature Fried Seafood Tofu ($8).

Cheeky DD hid his head behind the menu.

Our Barley and Sour Plum Drinks.

DD LTK Dry Hor Fun. The portion was just nice for us. The sauce was think and tasty.

Am Fried Prawn Wonton Dry Hor Fun. Their wontons are very crispy and delicious. Am can feel the juicy fresh prawns.

Our Dumpling Soup. The dumplings was nice with big juicy prawns, however the soup was not so nice. Kindda plain.

Their signature Seafood Fried Toufu. The tofu tasted somehow like traditional fried carrot cake to me. The funny part was we didn't get to taste any toufu. Hahhahaa.

Total Damage = $28.40

After lunch, we proceeded to 味香园甜品 for desserts. They are very popular in Chinatown. DD had the Green Tea Shredded Ice-cream ($4) while am had my all-time favourite YAM PASTE with pumkin ($3.50). The Yam Paste tastes good!!!! Smooth and not too sweet. You guys should really try it. But am don't find the Green tea ice-cream nice, it was not sweet at all and there's red-beans in it too. Am don't like red beans. And on-top of the two desserts, we've ordered their famous Iced Mango Paste ($3). It was also good too!

DD Green Tea Shredded Ice-cream.

Am yummylicious Yam Paste. Am gave all the Ginko nuts to DD. I think the Yam Paste is as good as from Jumbo Restaurant.

Their famous Mango Cream. The mangoes are sweettttt together with the sour pamelo bits.

Total Damage = $13.50.

Lazy Saturday Part 2

Dear darling and am met up with Gentle Giant and Jolin at Marina Square, as usual we didn't know what to have for dinner but someone suggested Spageddies Italian Kitchen, so off we go. We got the seats quite fast too. For appetisers, we ordered the Primo Combo ($12.50) and 1/2 dozen Escargots ($8.50). For the main courses, Jo ordered Crayfish & Chicken Combo ($20.50), Dear darling and GG ordered Chicken Cannelloni ($14) and am ordered Carbonara ($15). Primo Combo comes with calamari, mozzarella and soft shell crabs served with their homemade tartar and neapolitan sauce. I would say it was not so fantastic at all. For the Escargots, it sucks too!! The garlic sauce for the escargots was oily and blend. Am still prefer escargots from Miss Clarity.
Actually, most of the time am feel very paisei because of am blog, am friends couldn't get to eat the food first and they had to help me with the pictures etc like whats GG doing now, helping me with the menu, Jo lifting up her dish up and DD helping me taking the pictures. HeeheehhEE

The Primo Combo.

The Escargots, with two slices of tiny-weeny bread.

Jo's with her Chicken & Cray Fish Spaghetti.

DD and GG Chicken Cannelloni. Plump chicken-filled pasta topped with alfredo sauce & mozzarella cheese. It was not so bad as compared to am Carbonara. I didn't pu up a pic of am Carbonara because it doesn't worth any mention. Carbonara from Creation at Shaw Centre is still the best, not even Spaghetti from Minotti can compare with Creation. In the end, am exchanged my Carbonara with DD chicken cannelloni. Hhahahaha.

Total Damage: $89.50 (inclusive of GST and service charge, add 10% off if you have any UOB cards)

We were supposed to catch a movie after dinner, but the timing was not right. So as usual, we spent bout 30mins deciding where to go. So am suggested trying 2am Desert Bar at Holland Village, so off we go again!

The location of 2am is just behind the multi-story car park, and is located on the 2nd level. The decor of the place was dark and cosy. Initially we have difficulty in 'deciphering' the menu, but one lady came up and starting explaining what is popular and unique in their bar. Am had the Chef's special ($14), DD got the Chocolate Tart ($14) which is very popular in the bar, Jo had the Amedei Chocolate Cake ($16) and GG had the Twix ($13).

DD's Chocolate Tart. Warm tart, wild nettle, salted caramel, blood orange sorbet. The tart was really nice, but the orange sorbet was damn sour! and it melted very fast. So DD literally had to use a fork and spoon to finish the whole plate, at that moment he really looks like he's eating zi-cao. Muahahahaha.

Am Chef's Special. With many different kinds of un-explainable chocolate. But i really like the home-made ice-cream in the middle. It smells and tastes very nice, and it tastes like Jasmine flowers.

GG's Twix. Burnt caramel mousse, peanut crumble, and home-made valrhona chocolate ice-cream. GG said he don't really like it because he's not a big fan of caramel. hahaha. What an expensive wrong choice.

Lastly was Jo's Amedei Chocolate Cake. It was nice, especially the cake. Jo really savours every part of her dessert.

The staffs from 2am really takes an extra effort in explaining what the dessert are make of when served to us. I guessed its really helpful to let the newbies like us know what we are paying for. Bottomline, we can only conclude that the desserts we ate are designer desserts and we really didn't know how to apprecaite them. HAhhaahahaha....

Total Damage: $62.70 (inclusive of 10% service charge). Ya, i know the price are astonished for just four desserts. HAahhahaa..

Lazy Saturday Part 1

Ok a quickie update on what was going on for the past one week. Last paper ended on Monday, and am started working on Tuesday. Need to earn as much $$$ as possible for my expenses in June. Have not been questing for food this week. But am had Sushi Tei at East Coast Big Splash with sweetie Valerie (Gary's babe) on Friday evening, only managed to take 3 pics but too lazy to upload it. Hhahahahaha. After dinner, met up with dear darling, Gary and Weide at Villa Bali.

Am went for a swim this morning at Tampines Swimming Complex. Am had a shocked when am just stepped into the complex. Am thought they had a swimming carnival! It was so crowded with kids running around, parents sitting down reading newspaper, mothers talking with each other etc etc. And to make matters worst, the adult pool was section out for those kids learning swimming and we are only left 3 lanes to swim. Can you imagine 12 adults including me had to squeeze in just 3 lanes. Can anyone enlighten me what is the 'OVERTAKE LANE' means in the public pool? cuz am seriously thought that it means that you are able to 'overtake' someone while you are swimming. But apparently this was not the case!!!!

Am was stopped by someone on my 26th lap ( i was planning to swim for 3o laps), he said that am should U-TURN for every completed lap so that am will not block anyone from swimming, because all this time am was swimming in the same lane. Am was like 'Huh? Am didn't know there's a rule like this in the public pool'. Initially he did tapped on my shoulder once, but am ignored him and continue swimming. And he had to swim 2 more laps in order to catch up with me. He said am was blocking his and another uncle way. At that moment, am feel like slapping him hard and said ' You guys are the one blocking my way! Perhaps he was pissed that am overtook him many many times, because they are taking their own sweet time 'diving' in the pool. By all means to overtake me if you are able to swim faster than me lor! Idiots! It literally spoilt my mood for swimming.

Then perhaps the pool should change the sign from 'OVERTAKING LANE' to 'U-TURN LANE'. All these while, am have been swimming in the weekdays and didn't expect that weekends could be so crowded. Am so NOT going to swim during weekends anymore!

Start fishing here

Dear darling and am met Weide aka gentle giant and Gary for dinner at Parkway Parade for Fish and Co, and the sway part was the air-conditioning was faulty and we practically ate our dinner in a semi-oven condition. Dear darling and am had the New York Fish n Chips ($13.90), Gentle giant had Peri Peri Fish ($15.90) and Gary had the Swordfish Collar ($15.90). All of us had the complete meal with the additional of $5.50. Fish n Co had face lift, and they even serves pizzas in the restaurant.

The soup of the day was Seafood Chowder. Quite yummy and creamy.

Here's our New York Fish n Chips. I've always like their Fish n Chips. The difference between their Signature Fish n Chips and New York Fish n Chips is that it comes with melted cheese with a difference of $1.

Here's Gentle giant Peri Peri Fish. I didn't managed to try his fish. But i guessed it was not too bad, because GG finished the whole tray.

Here's Gary's Swordfish Collar. Look, how BIG the portion is. It looks more like KFC to me than fish. Oh, do bear in mind that you have to wait for about 20mins for this fish, if you don't mind waiting. Gary also finished the whole tray of fish. Only dear darling and am are left with the unfinished fries.

Total Damage = $100.75

I am Popeye the sailor man~ Du Du

It was pre-celebration for Mother's Day, cuz on the actual day, mama will be in thailand. Am suggested Popeye at Terminal 3, since my parents and bro and bro's gf have never tried it before. I remembered the first time i had Popeye was during my poly attachment in Terminal 1, and the only Popeye available was inside the Transit. The restaurant was packed when were arrived at 7.30pm, and the queue was freaking long. We only managed to get a table at 8pm, and managed to get our order taken at 8.45pm! Fast food are no longer fast anymore. Oh ya, one stupid guy queing infront of me, even went to the extend to ask 'Does Cabin Crew has Discount? Hahahahaa. Ok, shall let the pictures do the talking. All the combos comes with a scone, pls remember to get the strawberry jam from them. It taste much better with the jam on it. We ordered, 3 set of 3-piece chicken, 1 set of chicken strips, 1 set of 2-piece meal and 1 set of shrimps meal, and 2 large Mashed Potato.

The chickens were so much smaller than KFC, though they are much less oily. They have very crispy fries.

The mashed potato were totally different from KFC. The gravy is much peppery and somehow they added something into the mashed potato, think maybe are crumbs or minced meat, we still couldn't figure it out.

Scone

Dad still prefer KFC's chickens while he likes the fries from Popeye. The chicken's skin are not as crispy as KFC.

Total Damage = $53.60 (courtesy of my bro).
Total waiting time = 1hr 45mins.
